*We measured two groups of leaving cert students on their verbal ability immediately before a

game based learning activity. Not only did the students have a great time, but they were using and

learning Irish without even noticing. We reassessed the groups immediately after 40 minutes of fun.

The test was identical, and the results were staggering. Without opening a book, some students saw

an improvement of up to 200%, while the average was between 70 – 80%.
